It is said that Alanna is a Gaelic Irish derivation, from Alain which means “beautiful, bright, shining”, another hypothesis is that it derives from the Indo-European Alun, with the meaning of “beautiful”, alongside this meaning, Rosanna Galvani wanted to dedicate the sea to Augusto Vecchi (aka Jack la Bolina) historic writer and sailor of the 19th and early 20th century.
Today, I will talk about this place, another of the many collaborations with Craft-World. Today I will tell you about Alanna and the sea of Jack la Bolina.

Its creation was literally a drawing board project… but by whom? And to that question, I answer proudly, the designers, builders, and laborers are Rosanna Galvani, Velasquez Bonetto, and Fiona Saiman, precisely in this order, in the sense … the mind, the arm, and the leg worked together again. There were numerous phases in the construction, but all three of us agreed on a particular area, so we started from the Port, which now boasts a myriad of sailing boats and otherwise, on display and in a row (skillfully perfected by Velasquez), all with the possibility of sailing for every visitor.

To be honest, I don’t really like being a captain, I don’t feel comfortable at the helm, being careful where I’m going… the wind, the knots and everything that traveling at sea entails, I like to enjoy the journey more, go slowly and observe everything that surrounds me, the Caffè Degas, the seafront full of souvenir shops, the hills and the various lighthouses that dominate the horizon, illuminating our path at night and guiding us during the day. Rosanna often leads the way at the helm, while I close my eyes and imagine the splashes of salt water on my face, the wind in my hair, or I watch amusedly a flock of seagulls above our heads… and do you know why seagulls follow boats? No, no, believe me, they are less poetic than you think, every boat is followed because the sailors could throw fresh fish into the sea, and to think that several poets have described them in their works as romantic animals!!

But I was saying that during the crossings I go back in my mind to when everything was a huge expanse of grass and we didn’t know how to proceed, and how to proceed, because Alanna was supposed to be a seaside place, but during the work it was transformed into multiple settings with different areas, both in terms of use and style, I’ll give you some examples; behind the pier, the port and shops the countryside appears, the large canal divides the private area from the tourist area, the pirate galleon transformed into a disco breaks up and cheers up a little the huge expanse of surrounding sea, all under the eyes of Neptune who in the middle of the sea fights with a sea monster with gigantic tentacles.

But the heart of Alanna and Jack’s sea is the Metaverse Museum which, from its almost central position, keeps everything under control and proudly offers itself to visitors as a precious treasure, and in fact in the renowned MdM there are exhibited some works of the myriad of Artists known by Rosanna, in her long “career” as Artistic Director, think it was born in Second Life in 2007, then moved to Craft-World a few years later And it still hosts many quality art events, this one located in Alanna is just one of the many locations present in Craft-World.

Jack and Alanna’s sea is part of a vast archipelago. During the journey, we can stop on other sims (I’ll mention just a few): Osteria, NoiLab and NoiLab2, Bita, Dark Side Of The Moon, Atlantide, Arte Maestra, Utopia, unAcademy, Uqbar2, LOCUSOLUS. Dear sailors, allow me a piece of advice: before embarking on the journey and hoisting the sails, don’t forget a backpack full of maps and supplies, and a great desire to know and discover. Every place you will encounter on your journey has characters and stories that deserve to be known.

We don’t want to disappoint Mr. Jack la Bolina, do we?
